Who is the Mobile Mechanic of York?

aboutme.png

My name is Ben Ford and it feels like my entire life has centered around fixing things.

From the time I was small, I was all about cars, trucks, figuring out how things worked and repairing them.  From Tonka trucks in the dirt to riding bicycles out of barns to driving around the farm long before I had a license.  I’ve been officially “fixing cars” since I was a pre-teen, something I loved to do.  Finding myself adrift, I joined the military in 1999 as a helicopter electrician but quickly realized, I just can’t get away from that mechanical inclination and switched to “fixing” everything from generators to Humvees to tractor trailers.   I was deployed to Iraq from 2005-2006 before settling in Edgewood as military automotive technician.

I left the military after 20 years, in 2020 and started my own mobile mechanic business under a different name with a focus in Harford County, MD.  Since then, with the encouragement of friends and family, I have decided to move into York County and surrounding areas.  Thus began, “Mobile Mechanic of York”!

The real reason for the switch in areas?  I’m hoping to move to the Seven Valley’s area in the near future and I’d like to keep my work around there.

When I'm not working, my time is spent with family- my wife and 2 boys.  My oldest is 21 and my youngest is 13.  Our family includes 2 cats, Finnegan and Freya.  We love spending time in nature, watching wildlife and seeing new places.
